Crochet roundup – Summer

Holidays destroyed any crochet time (too many kids for hobbies!)

But I did turn my smallest into a cabbage patch kid the other day:

The pattern is here – I’m a little scared how much the camera flash makes her look like a doll!

And I made a baby twinkle toes unicorn using thread. He/she is coming to work with me when I go back!

Holidays and fun days must end :(

Back to school soon. New shoes, trousers, shirts, water bottles….. Lots of money spent, hopefully they’ll look smart for more than 5 minutes!

Memories from this summer – the accidental minion Clan Lanaghan for Tyneside rocks (not that they ever got hidden!)

And there were 4 in the bed…

Whilst having the kids for the summer has been a little stressful at times, I’m gonna miss having all the minions around! This was the only summer we’ll ever spend all together like this and that makes me sad.

Although there’s a plus side – I’m glad to be back in my own bed, and this year the midgies decided I was tasty and bit me. A lot. And I have Pilates and aquafit tomorrow, I’ve missed my exercise classes (although walking for miles wearing a baby should have helped keep me fit!)

And maternity leave is running out.. Still waiting to hear about a job, so just trying to ignore the impending sense of doom, panic and waves of stress til nearer the time 🙁 never felt this bad about going back to work after mat leave, I thought I’d manage better third time round!

Random trip -Binchester fort

We got a recommendation for an open day at Binchester fort in Bishop Auckland. We’ve never been, but thought the boys would like it, so went to check it out.

Unfortunately, I had a camera memory card failure and lots some awesome pictures of the kids with axes, swords and shield and joining the Roman army and defeating barbarians! Absolutely gutted as it was awesome!

Big kid enjoyed the displays – they talked through weapons and army kit and fighting techniques. Little kid found other little kids and made grass mountains (well, you can’t please everyone!).

But they both wanted to join in and be ‘recruited’ to the Roman army and defeat the ‘barbarians’ (some very, very brave volunteers!). They had a fab time and we looked around the rest of the site before going home.

It definitely was a fun random trip!
