So I wanted to make a Pixie hat for little, I used the free crochet pattern here, and needless to say, mine didn’t end up quite like the picture. But I still liked it and made her wear it. Then she played with her new goldilocks/bear toy (a bit horrifying really, goldilocks is inside the bear!) and the resemblance the Masha and the Bear was realised!
Holidays destroyed any crochet time (too many kids for hobbies!)
But I did turn my smallest into a cabbage patch kid the other day:
The pattern is here – I’m a little scared how much the camera flash makes her look like a doll!
And I made a baby twinkle toes unicorn using thread. He/she is coming to work with me when I go back!
I love love love this Unicorn pattern from hobbycraft (also one of my favourite shops) I will definitely be keeping and eye on their website for future patterns!
I also used the unicorn head to make Baba a ‘lovey’, I skipped the mane though, as she’d eat it!
And moving on from the Amish puzzle ball we tried, we moved into the Flower ball version, which is pretty too, and baba likes it!
I also did a little needle felting… For a unicorn fan (excuse the mess on this one! I’d been shopping)
There’s been a bit of crochet being done, I think I’ve just about mastered the art of crocheting whilst balancing sleepy baby!

Pink pussycat hat – no pattern
Octopus for premie pattern from my nomad home
Sleepy dolly pattern is sleepyhead
And none baby related, we’ve had some slugterra inspired slugs appearing (sorry, no pattern). Here are a couple:
He lost the tip of his wing in a child related accident a while ago, perhaps sheriffhill.com might make him a friend one day…
I get bored sometimes…
Sometimes people will compliments me on something I’ve made. I don’t respond to compliments very well. I used to respond with ‘I get bored sometimes’… I’ve managed to stretch that to the slightly more socially acceptable ‘thanks, I get bored sometimes’. But my social ineptitude is sometimes impossible to hide.
Anyhow, I made Mr Octopus over a couple of nights after work whilst watching TV. He’s a pattern from a book, I got a bargain on some sock wool (the best stuff for monster making) and had to test it.
In other news, my fridge-freezer gave up and the end of last week, which wasn’t good as I couldn’t afford a new one. Santa is helping though (he gets earlier every year) and a new one arrives tomorrow. A different santa helped when our washing machine stopped washing just before Christmas. I like Santa.
Someone on Facebook posted something which describes my financial status… He said ‘I dropped a pound coin under the car seat and couldn’t find it, so I guess I have savings now’
It made me chuckle, anyway.
Well, enough rambling for tonight! G’night folks!
After a break from blogging due technical and life difficulties, I signed up to blogging 101 to try and get back in the habit.
Lesson one? Who I am and why I’m here.
That led to a bit of ‘what’s the meaning of life’ type thinking, but I don’t think that’s what they’re after.
So, without further ado… My House:
My house is like my blog. It’s small and gets overcrowded and sometimes there’s a bit too much going on. There are kids – 1 & 2 (large and small). A zombie gnome (there really is, it’s new) as we have a bit of a zombie thing going on after a thing last year. The things in the windowsill in jars are crochet hooks (crochet is usually a major theme) and buttons – yes, I know it looks like a jar of pills. It’s not, honest. The spidery-type things behind the jars are balls of wool, being true to their role in my house by threatening to take over. The door is open as husband has nipped out for a game of football (he seems to have forgotten the ball though) and you can here music – another blog theme and all that’s ever be on in here if I didn’t let the kids watch cartoons sometimes.
So, that covers a lot of it really.. I missed me, I’m probably on the sofa with a camomile & spearmint tea, telling the kids to stop staring at people passing by.
The blog started as somewhere to put stuff, and hopefully find people like me, who don’t have a lot of time in the real world. That’s about it really!
And today was the first Monday back at work after xmas, which we’ve christened ‘Miserable Monday’. That’s a thing now, honest!
I don’t normally post other people’s patterns on here, but I had to have a go at this one! I made mine a bit bigger, but kept the wings smaller, so he doesn’t smother anyone. His name is Denzel the Dragon.
I saw the pattern on:
