Ouchy

So, I joined the gym after a 3 month gap. It wasn’t too bad going back, and I’ve been plodding along quite well for the last few weeks. However, I did something silly. I got bored of my program and got the gym guy (highly technical term, I know) to change it for me.

So good so far, that doesn’t sound too bad, does it? I went to the gym this afternoon, and now my shoulder makes weird crunchy noises. I am currently ignoring it, but it has prevented me from crocheting tonight, which for some reason, has stressed me a bit.

I’ve been crocheting quite a bit of late:

I did that last night, it’s not my pattern, I was pattern testing for someone on Instagram. Which is kinda cool, as it wasn’t my normal thing to make. I make this kind of stuff normally:

I also liked a drawing my 3 year old did of my baby so much that I had to make it…

Ok, so maybe a couple of nights off won’t actually kill me? I’m back at work after baby and think that the lack of free time is what has caused me to be doing more – when you have less free time, you don’t waste a minute of it!

Anyway, speaking of work, I have to go there tomorrow and I’m tired.

Goodnight folks!

Bananas and herbal tea

I just dug out my laptop, thinking it’d be nicer to type on. And I could listen to music too. After forty minutes of arguing with it, I have succeeded in emptying the recycle bin. So now I’m back to an iPod/iPhone combo. Apple have won again!

Anyway, bananas and herbal tea have been the theme for the weekend, as I found out on Friday that I’d put on 4lbs in a week and a half. Not exactly going well with the weight loss thing. But I’m not gonna dwell on negatives! Maybe I’ll have something positive to report on weigh-day-Wednesday?

Last weekend, I dragged family to local park to take part in a local ‘big walk’, we did a health walk. Husband didn’t want to be there and pointed that out almost continuously, and toddler ‘wasn’t tired’ but needed to be carried half way round, despite that, I enjoyed it. And toddler was happy with his medal.

It did reinforce my family’s, (well my husband’s really), version of supporting me. It’s very much ‘do want you want, as long as I’m not involved’, but such is life! Anyway, it’s a nice park, and it wasn’t too cold. The walk leaders were people who knew the park really well, so we learnt stuff on the way – who knew there was a bed of chamomile there?

So, now I’m listening to some Sam Baker. Highly recommended, if you’ve never heard of him. Not like anything else I listen too. A little sad sometimes too, but sometimes it’s nice to listen to something that isn’t as cheerful, it puts stuff into perspective.

Well, before I get too maudlin, and turn this into a pitiful rant…. I’m not gonna go on about things that are in my head too much, a lot of them should stay there. But I will pose a question instead, if that’s ok – why would a husband tell a lie about where he had been and who he’d been with? (The presumption here is that nothing sinister is going on).

I think I should maybe quit while I’m ahead, good night folks xxx

Tuesday night ramblings

So, technically, it’s the night before this week’s weigh in. But I’m not going to get held up on that tonight.

Technology has made an attempt to catch up with me, and today I’m figuring out how to type in a playbook, so, as usual, apologies for the rubbish typing!

This weekend was the continuation of backyard work. So, I pretty much stayed in with the kids. However, I got a pass out from husband on Sunday night and managed to sneak in a few pints with my Dad. As a vegetarian, nice beer is getting increasingly harder to get as lots of breweries are using findings, resulting in what can only be described as icky fish beer.

We went to a nice pub, with nice beer, called the isis, which sells lovely beer called erdinger (if you haven’t tried it, I’d recommend it). 20120911-211735.jpgThe was a live music too, some members of a band called the longsands were playing, and they were pretty good, doing a mix of covers and original stuff. It reminded me of life before children when that was my normal weekend routine.

But still, it is weighday tomorrow. And gym, which will be worse, as the nice man put extra stuff on my key to try out. And zumba. And soft play. And food shopping. It is daddy day care after all!

Progress report

This is me, today. I had lost 1 lb. The lady had converted my weight from kg wrongly, I think. So, I didn’t gain weight, but I didn’t speed up my weight loss either, I slowed it down.

I’m not making excuses, but I think it’s been harder to control my diet as I’m weaning the littlest. Feeding him used to give me an extra 500 (roughly) calories a day, which helped cover up when I slipped. So, the answer? No more slips! Better willpower!!

Still working on how I’ll get that though!

Been to the gym and Zumba today. And I didn’t cheat on my weights (have been doing more reps at a lower weight due to ouchiness) and tried one set of reps on the leg press at 50kg instead of 40. The other 2 weights things I do are 20kg they are something to do with upper back, and chest press, I think!

Was a bit gutted at the gym when I checked my results and it said I’d burnt 6 calories less on my cardio stuff. Not a lot, but I really tried to do more today! Hopefully I’ll be better on Friday. So, this post is more motivational. I hope.

In other news, there’s now other people at Zumba using the machine I use before class to do a health check. I started a trend!!
