When’s payday again?

How come the last week before payday is so miserable?

And how come I can’t give up sugar?

And how come it’s raining today?

I was having fun at the beach 🙁

So, anyway, we’re plodding on. Not doing to well on the food and exercise front, the food part is purely my lack of self control, the exercise part is the lack of babysitters and weather going dodgy.

Right now everyone in my house is having a nap and I can’t sleep. I’m really tired though. But nevermind! We’ve been to the beach, until the rain came.

Larger child had fun, we were there last night too, I took him for a paddle in the sea. I’m glad I live near the sea, it makes for good child amusement! They showed a movie in a local park last night, I tried to talk husband into going, but he wouldn’t go see dirty dancing. I think he’d have probably spent most of the time playing football with child anyway, so I’m gonna work on him for next time!!

I had a bit of a vigilante moment this week…. I’ve noticed an increase in ‘scrap men’ on the streets, picking up metal to sell. A while back, one even knocked on my door and asked if some stuff in my yard was rubbish. For the clarification of any Americans, when I say yard, I mean area of concrete with ten foot wall around it.

So anyway, i’m in the house with the baby while the larger child is at nursery, and suddenly my cats come running in the house. I look out of the window, and I see a man climbing out of my yard, with larger child’s highchair (it was left out there).

So, I grabbed the baby, my keys, and my phone and gave chase! They promptly dumped the highchair, but I took some lovely pictures of their truck. Which I have to the nice policeman who came shortly afterwards.

Then a bit later I realised that chasing a truck full of men armed with an iPhone and a baby might not have been a good idea.. But nevermind! I hope the police scare them, because I haven’t felt very safe in my own home since then, and that sucks. Well, such is life! Anyway, time to go dry my hair, I’m in a phase of pretending to be girly. (I can try, I might convince someone).

Poorly Sick

So, since the last time I posted, big kid got poorly sick. Properly. This is unusual, although he has his fair share of coughs and colds, he’s rarely actually ill.

This led to a bit lot more staying in the house, and a little lot more snacks and bad stuff. So… I went to the gym yesterday, first day on weights (scary). Did ok, survived and felt fine. Husband started work at lunchtime, so brought the kids home and fed the baby (big one still not well), then I got a migraine. Recently, I’ve been having different migraines, ophthalmic ones, which was a bit unnerving until I googled it to find out it’s nothing to panic about!

However, it didn’t go away, I got worse and worse, ending up moving the kids into my bed, so we could all lie down. Big kid took this opportunity to start getting better, and got lively again. I ended up dizzy and faint, and husband had to come home. I felt awful (literally) and awful (guilty) as he’d had to leave work, but I physically couldn’t get up and move round properly.

Hoping this was a one off!!! Not letting it put me off. Had a rest day today, went to fat class, lost 1lb. Not great, but better than I expected. We learnt about labelling today, and basically how most of the when you pick something because it says ‘diet’ or ‘light’ it’s not that good. I was surprised by how much sugar was in cereal bars!! Haven’t eaten them since I was pregnant, but I won’t be eating them again!

Back to the gym tomorrow. Afternoon this time, and I’ll drink lots more, as that seems to be the key. I get migraines for eyesight (all good, fairly new glasses), blood pressure (currently behaving) and dehydration (doh!).

Fairly easy to fix though, that’s a good thing. Well, I need to sleep. G’night folks! Good luck to anyone braving anything new tomorrow xx

Not too achy

So, yesterday I went for my first proper gym session. It wasn’t too bad, and I’m going back tomorrow. And I’ve been reasonably good today. Chocolate buttons were eaten, but I needed them. Not sure why, but it did!

Gym man said that they’ll probably get me to start using weights next week, that sounds scary!!

Chilli noodles, veg and not chicken pieces or lunch:

And jacket potato and salad for tea:

Low fat soft cheese, of course. Larger child was at nursery, and smaller child and me met my sister and smallest niece to go to a gig largest niece was doing to end a week long music course.

Baba was not too impressed by the volume, bless him, and we had to go and stand at the back.

Am now enjoying a little drink before bed! ‘night all xx

The night after the night before…

So, last night we dropped the kids off at the inlaws’ house, and headed for out lovely Thai meal… Which was bloody awful! The plan was to have a drink in the bar, go to the restaurant, eat, and then meet up with everyone in Newcastle, to drink.

Basically the food took ages (we were there for 2 hours!) and when the main courses arrived, they didn’t even vaguely resemble what we’d ordered (I didn’t like mine, so ate my rice instead). Now, I never ever complain (this is only the second time ever), but we did point out that it didn’t look like what we’d ordered and we’d waited ages and ages. I don’t mind waiting for nice food. But this wasn’t nice. Anyways, they made it cheaper and we paid somewhere in between what they were asking and what the bill would have been, because we felt bad too. I’m not sure why!

So that made us late to go out… So, we meet up with a large group of very drunk people, and apart from feeling incredibly uncomfortable until I’d had a couple of drinks, it was a good night.

But I did decide that I’m too old for rock clubs. And being the only woman with 3 men (we were the last 4 standing) was a little odd.

The hard part was getting up and going to my gym induction this morning, but I made it, and learnt how to use the machines. The guy said I had a good fitness level, but I think he was just saying that to make me feel better! I’m a very uncoordinated person, and kept making the cross trainer go backwards. And there’s this weird hand-cycle thing, which requires more coordination than I have.

It went ok though. Due to opening hours and husband’s work hours meaning I have to one to watch the kids, I don’t think i’ll make it back there until next Saturday, which is a shame. Not a lot I can do about it though. I’ll still have zumba on Wednesday. I missed last week, so need to get back to it asap.

Too tired to be a domestic goddess today

Or any other day really. The kids did a tag team thing to keep us awake last night. The tiredness is now setting in. It’s easy to see how I put weight on, I’ve been using sugar to keep me awake! As I’m limited to 4 portions of fatty/sugary stuff, I’ve used one to have spread on my toast at breakfast, and one to have a post-lunch digestive biscuit. I baba is having a nap, but larger child seems to have plenty of energy. How come he isn’t tired?? I’m so tired my head hurts!!

On another note, my super super healthy lunch:

Spelt, lentils, brown rice and vegetables! Getting better, methinks!

I have lots of housework, but I’m sitting on the sofa, struggling to be awake. Don’t you just love kids?
